Absolute Monarchs in Comparison

Absloute monarchs are kings/queens or someone of royal heritage who have absolute or unlimited power in their state. Some absolute monarchs include Louis XIV, Suleiman I, Philip II, Akbar (Mughal India) and Peter the Great. They all have different ways of using their power. Louis XIV was the absolute monarch of France. He was also the Sun King and thought everything revolved around him. Suleiman I was known as the Lawgiver/ the Magnificent. He was the absolute monarch of the Ottoman Empire. Suleiman I had broad interests which contributed to the cultural achievements of the empire. Philip II inherited the territories of Spain, the Spanish Netherlands and the American Colonies when he came to rule. He was known as a defendder of Catholicism because he believed it was his duty to defend catholicism against the Muslims of the Ottoman empire and the Protestants of Europe. Akbar (Mughal India) demonstrated tolerance in his empire, had successful tax policies and handled military and militaristic ideas in his own unique way. One last absolute monarch we learned about includes Peter the Great. He ruled Russia. His monarch and my monarch have some similarities. For example we both have worked to improve the structure of things; how things work and come together. There are differences between our monarchy though such as he tried controlling everyone under his authority and in my monarchy, i allow different people to follow what they believe in but in a civilized, controlled way. I relate to Peter the Great because we have similar ideas on how we run things and manage what goes on. In my opinion, we think alike in some ways.
